| PREFLIGHTING: Preflighting
is an important step in printing. Check files
to ensure that all elements are present. Your project will streamline
through the production process more easily. |
| PAGE
LAYOUTS: If you keep the page the exact size in your
page layout program there will be no measuring
or miscalculating of the finished flat piece.
Please make an allowance for an 1/8' for any bleeds. |
| CROP
MARKS: Establishing crop marks from the program of reference will
aid in determining the consistency to the finished piece. If
you do decide to draw registration marks the
color should be registration color. |
| PHOTOS: Photos
in grayscale or color look and print better at 300dpi. If
you are working with a Black and White Graphic, file should be 1200dpi.
Please do not use the LZW compression. Limiting the resizing of
scanned images in Photoshop to 115% keeps the image at a better resolution
and will keep the file size smaller. |
| GRAPHICS: Other
graphic file formats such as vector files with type, print
at a better resolution if created in Illustrator. Typesetting should
be done within the layout program itself. Please do not change the
name of any graphic files after they have been placed in a layout program.
This could cause a shift of placement or an inaccurate image to
appear. |
|
PACKAGING: To
ensure correct output, the following should be supplied:
Application File, Fonts (All printer fonts and screen fonts used for the
file should be in this folder), Support Files and pdf for reference.
The best solution is to "Collect for Output" in Quark or "Package" on
all programs. |
| SEPARATIONS: For
more accurate process separations, colors should be built
in CMYK instead of RGB. Spot separations should be built as spot
colors. When using spot colors, the spot plate needs to have the same
spot color name exactly. Example "Pantone 356CV" and "Pantone 356U" while
they may both have the same components and look the same on
screen, they will provide separate plates when imaged. |
| BOOKLETS
AND CATALOGS: These projects should be submitted in a
single- page format or "readers spreads". In other
words, the order that they would be read.
We are able to set the imposition for printing here.
|
DIES
AND EMBOSSING: When drawing a die file the drawing should
be in Illustrator as 100% Magenta. Die lines for cutting should be
solid lines. Lines for folding and scoring should be dotted lines.
Embossed files also should be drawn in Illustrator as 100% yellow.
